With Hurricane Idalia on the way it’s best to be prepared. For years this area has been hit by some big storms, mainly 2016 & 2018, so it’s always good to have some items on deck just in case.

As Hurricane Idalia impacts Florida today, it’s time to pay attention and prepare for potential impacts in North Carolina later in the week.

Currently, heavy rain is expected across our region starting Wednesday and continuing overnight into Thursday.

As closures and delays are announced we will add them to this page.

Wednesday, August 30, 2023 – All schools will operate on a regular schedule with no after school sporting events. Sporting practices may be conducted but must be concluded by 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, August 31, 2023- Whiteville City Schools is CLOSED to all students and staff.

Friday, September 1, 2023 – At this time we are anticipating operating on a regular schedule.
